Cesar, Banquet Server

Cesar Poquiz

When I was 16, 17, I liked to work in the airlines, and after that I worked in a hotel.  And in Manila, Philippines, I worked in a hotel, and after that I worked in hospitality in a restaurant, and then as a server.  When I came in America, I worked in the Westin hotel 1983-1995. After that, I worked in a different hotel. I have 14 brothers and sisters. I bet my mom has 50 grandchildren.

If I’m honest with you, I’ll still be working at 75. Because of this economy, and situation, you have to keep working as long as you’re strong. Everything is expensive, the food, everything. I think I’m going to get another job this year so I can save some money. There’s no such thing as ‘free’ in America. I just have to take care of myself…because you can have a heart attack in America because of the food.”
